This is the steam powered streetcar, provided by the Boston Horseless Transportation Company. I found some great street car reference and built the main vehicle, and then added a steam pump and furnace. This thing would be great in the Boston winters, although I imagine the front of the car would be very cold. During the summer, though? Even though it's outside, it would still be running in the high nineties.
And don't even think about how heavy that back end is... Just imagine they counterbalance it with weight in the front.
Love that photo: "The Last Horse Drawn Steamcar in Boston"!
ReplyDeleteI can see where one can have a LOT of fun with Steam Punk visualizing what 'could have' been. :)
I love it! Although the heat problem might be something for the designer to fix ;)
ReplyDeleteFind a way to vent the heat or move it to other places.
ReplyDeleteYeah, aren't those pictures great? I'm glad you like this... Since the streetcar is something of a throwaway I'm not going to worry to much about the heat... The next car I build is going to be a little more fantastical. I don't want to spend too much time on it. Wait until you see this test I'm planning that includes the moving streetcar plus all the extra stuff- the banner, two more vehicles for the ground, about three flying things and of course, all the people.
ReplyDeleteCant wait to see the more fantastical vehicles! Show us ANYTHING - even WIP. :)
